19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces
A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden title for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.
Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is his maiden championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court since that period of that year.
Success also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, comprising in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had led observers to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.
But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an enhanced serve.
He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair exchanged breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.
The opponent saved four early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.
Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
